Jr Handler, 2nd place out of 10! St Croix Show! Great job Sam!

Best dog food

We have tried a few different foods and seem to be liking Fromm, made here in Wisconsin. So far we like duck and sweet potato, and we like surf and turf!

Duck hunting

This fall was quite busy with Randy working a couple Saturday's. Marshall got his first duck hunting in and he loved it! Tikka was on her best behavior, no more breaking early! The kids had an awesome time!

Marshall (CH Spinnakers Long Arm of the Law JH) took his first group 4 at the Manitoba dog show in Canada August 13th! Very happy with him and thinking this next year will be an awsome year for him! Thanks Christy!

Beretta, Tundra Update

It has been so long since I have updated this blog! The puppies are 6 1/2 months old now! They have been a tremendous amount of work. Most days its a labor of love. We are doing really well with most things. Beretta is a barker - Tundra is quiet. They are just under 60 pounds and I think Tundra is going to be taller than Beretta. They love to swim and love to retreive. We are looking forward to working with them next spring on their Jr Hunt titles, as we did with Tikka and Marshall this spring. Its a lot of work. Some days, I think - I would like to cut back on working and spend that time working with the dogs.... but ah, ha - dogs are an expensive hobby. Funny enough, its not so much the dogs, its everything that "comes" with the dogs, the new hunting camo, the new gun, the new decoys that is better than the last set! The travleing around to hunt tests, and dog shows, the new e collar, the new fence, the live ducks, the duck pen we want to build, the new dog doors, the extending the kennel runs the vectra and heart worm......... and to think my son will be 10 shortly and I can't imagine what he will add to the list! He wants a Polaris Razor! Doing all of our own training has been rewarding. Its definetly a slower process but I think the bond is much stronger.

Our computer died in the beginning of July - so I lost all my old emails and contact information!

Dog Food Change Eff 8/16

We have been faithful users of Canidae dog food!! We are going to try something new! Tikka is still on the Canidae, but we are trying Orijen Adult formula with Marshall, and the puppies are on the puppy formula. We do supplement the dog food with fish oil and vitamins and our hope is this will end the "suplementing"!

Corn Stalks

What is it about dogs and corn stalks? These puppies drag every lasting stalk of corn and left over husks they can find into the yard!!!  The big dogs would do that too at the end of the season last year! I'll be glad when they plow it all under!

Our 1st Feathers - 8 Weeks Old

We have 4 puppies still here - two we are keeping, Tundra and Beretta. Then we have Green Boy who goes home on Saturday and Elliot who we are ready to let go now. Elliot had a mysterious leg injury at 4 weeks. We took him up to Stillwater Veterinary Clinic and they couldn't find anything wrong. He did not use his leg for a week and his muscles took a while to catch up to the rest of him. He is doing really good and today he proved just that. He was running all over playing keep away with his duck. He wasn't about to let the other puppies have his duck!! He loved this duck!

We are working with all the puppies on "come" when called. They all sit really well. They are attentive and I defintly see leaps and bounds change from the 7th week to the 8th week. They, although cautiously, are venturing out, and will even go "out of sight". They had one night this week that they slept from 11pm to 6am. But last night we were up at 2am although, they all went accident free last night!

Their sibling Carly Rae, went home with a UTI on Friday!  While although she seemed to be doing better and we thought it would be okay for her to go home, she did not have a 1st good night at her new home. We are hoping and praying she adjusts quickly and they can move onto normal puppy issues! Hugs and Kisses to Carly!

Little Elliot Boog

Princess Carly Rae
Thanks to Carly Rae, who is a princess in her own right Carlyraechessie.blogspot.com, we now have our own blog! Carly was the 3rd of 7 puppies to go home today! We have Syd and Gunner going home tomorrow! Walter and Gary went home last weekend and so far everyone is doing great!

Elliot Boog
We do have a special little guy, who at one time had a sore, right, hind leg. But as you can see below, he is doing much better. He is a long coat and he is adorable. The kids have affectionately named him Elliot Boog after the one horned deer and bear from the movie Open Season!  Yes I know - long name! He will require some grooming and so we are looking for a special family for him.
